All applying for a UK visa must lodge their application through the British
Embassy – Manila’s commercial partner, VFS Philippines Services Private Inc.
All visa applicants, irrespective of nationality, will have to apply in person
to the Visa Application Centre (VAC) and have their fingerscans and digital
photograph taken.
The Visa Section of the British Embassy Manila has a new call centre. For
information and inquiries on visa procedures and requirements you can
contact them with the numbers listed below.

PLEASE NOTE:
As there is no certainty that a visa can be issued, applicants and sponsors
are advised not to buy any air ticket if delay or refusal of the visa application
will result in financial loss.
No cell phones, bags including ladies handbags will be permitted inside
the Visa Section of the British Embassy. These items must not be brought
inside the Embassy premises and should not be left with 2nd or 15th floor
guards or at the reception desks. Any person trying to bring these items
will be refused entry to the Embassy. Applicants who need to visit the Visa
Section should bring some photographic identity other than their passport
or credit cards.

Beware of touts or “fixers”. They will take your money but no matter what they
promise they cannot guarantee you a visa. All cases involving touts or
illegal operations will be passed to the Philippine authorities for whatever
action they consider appropriate.

This service is available nationwide through-NDD enabled telephones. It is
available through a toll charge costing Php32.00 per minute for landline
calls (excluding VAT and applicable NDD charges for calls made outside
Metro Manila). Additional rates may apply for calls made through payphones,
prepaid phone cards or mobile phones. Recorded information is available
24 hours a day 7 days a week.

How to apply?
We strongly recommend you to visit the Application Centre by prior
appointment. This will help you save unnecessary waiting time. You will
particularly value the appointment facility during the peak season when
long queues may be an occurrence.
You can make an application in 2 easy steps:
     1. Obtain a fee receipt from any branch of Standard Chartered Bank,
         Bank of Philippine Islands, Banco De Oro and Metro Bank. Please
         carry a photocopy of your passport data page when you go to the
         bank to pay the visa fee. Visit our website to ascertain the amount
         of money required.
     2. You can Schedule an appointment on the website one day after
         date of payment at the bank.

Before you visit the UK Visa Application Centre, download the Visa
Application Form for completion. Also download the appropriate checklist
to confirm which supporting documentation need to be submitted at the
Application Centre.

The Application Centre is located at the Phil AXA Tower, Units 2501 / 2502,
25th Floor, Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, Corner Tindalo Street, Makati City.
Please arrive at the UK Visa Application Centre 10 minutes before your
appointment time.

You are welcome to visit the Application Centre without prior appointment.
You will be assigned to a regular queue. Please note that during peak
periods, the number of persons who can be accommodated in the regular
queue may need to be restricted for reasons of crowd control / management.

Who needs to submit the application?
The British Embassy has introduced fingerprinting with effect from 31st
May 2007 wherein every applicant would need to come in person to the
Application Centre to submit the application and subsequently carry out
their biometric enrolment.

Visa Fees

All fees are applicable for children as well, and are not refundable under any
circumstances.
Important: If you would be traveling to the UK for the first time for a visit,
please apply only for a Visit Visa valid for 6-months. Issue of visa is at the
discretion of the assessing Entry Clearance Officer at the British High
Commission/Deputy High Commission.
Note: For every application form there will be a respective transaction
receipt. For example if there is a family of Father + Mother + 02 Children -
there will be 04 SEPARATE transactions, one for each member of the family.
Important: If you would be traveling to the UK for the first time for a visit,
please apply only for a Visit Visa valid for 6-months. Issue of visa is at the
discretion of the assessing Entry Clearance Officer at the British Embassy.

How to pay your Visa Fees?
To reduce your waiting time at the Application Centre, we recommend that
you prepay your visa fees at any branch of Standard Chartered Bank, Bank
of Philippine Islands, Banco De Oro, or Metro Bank.
This would enable you to take an appointment online at our website
If you are pre-paying at a bank:
     • The bank will accept fees only in cash
     • Please carry a photo copy of the passport data page to the bank
     • You can schedule an appointment one day after date of deposit of
        fees at the bank
     • You can also visit the Application Centre without an appointment
        on the next working day. However, waiting times may be longer for
        applicants who have not taken an appointment.
     • The bank will levy a transaction fee of PH 50 per applicant.
     • The bank’s fee receipt will be valid for 45 days from date of issue.
        Please turn in your application within that period.

Please note that cash will NOT be accepted at the Visa Application Centre.
Only Manager’s Cheques (MC) shall be accepted at the Application Centre.
For multiple applications separate MCs are required. For example if
there is a family of Father + Mother + 02 Children - there will be 04
SEPARATE transactions and 04 SEPARATE Manager’s Cheques, one for
each member of the family. The Manager’s Cheque should be made in the
favour of “The British Embassy Manila” and be drawn on Standard Chartered
Bank, Bank of Philippine Islands, Banco De Oro, Metro Bank only.
If the visa fee has been deposited at any of the following branches of
Standard Chartered Bank, the applicant will be reimbursed the transaction
fee of PH 50 at the Visa Application Centre (VAC) of VFS.

Required Documentation
The following documentation is mandatory in all cases:
      1. A SIGNED visa application form (VAF) which you have filled in
          correctly together with the SIGNED Declaration.
      2. Your passport or travel document should be valid for at least six (6) months.
      3. A SIGNED Application Checklist
      4. Supporting documents relevant to your application
      5. The visa fee payment receipt
      6. A recent passport-sized (45mm x 35mm) colour photograph of
          yourself (please refer to the photo specification guidelines):
Note : Those applying for settlement (ILE) as parents, grandparents
and other dependant relatives will be asked to provide a completed
copy of the sponsorship undertaking, (to be completed by the sponsor).

Tourist or Visit Visa
Please provide photocopies of all the documents you will be submitting:
     1. A completed visa application form: Non-Settlement Form (VAF1 2006)
     2. One recent coloured and unframed passport sized photos taken
         with a light background approximately 45mm X 35mm in size and
         glued not stapled onto the designated space for the picture in the application form.
     3. Visa fee in pesos. Payable across the Bank counter or through
         ATM Card, made payable to the British Embassy Manila.
     4. Current passport valid for at least 6 months and any old passports.
         A parent or guardian must sign passports of child applicants.
     5. If sponsored: a. An invitation letter from the UK (if sponsored by a
         UK resident) b. Copies of sponsors passport (personal details page
         and all the stamped pages) c. Evidence that sponsor can support
         your trip. We would recommend you supply up-to-date detailed
         bank statements and other savings covering a period of 6 months
         prior to the date of application. d. For parents/grandparents/
         brothers/sisters who have not previously traveled to the UK
         evidence of relationship to sponsor in the UK is required (e.g.
         Birth Certificate Marriage certificate)
     6. If you or your spouse are employed an updated employment letter
         stating position salary and number of leave given for the trip with
         specified dates.
     7. Evidence of savings. We would recommend you supply up-todate
         detailed bank statements and bank pass books covering a
         period of 6 months prior to date of application. Plus a bank certificate.
     8. Land titles if any.
     9. Business documents if self-employed i.e. Business Registration
         Business Permit DTI or SEC Registration Mayors Permit etc.
     10. A signed Visa Application Checklist is available on our website.

IMPORTANT:
It is recommended that applicants who are traveling to the UK for the first
time start off by applying for a 6 month visa. However, if first-time travelers
wish to apply for a 1, 2, 5, or 10 year visa, they may do so knowing that the
visa fee is NON-REFUNDABLE should the British Embassy decide, upon
its’ discretion, to issue only a 6 month visa. Please note that UK Visas has
issued a worldwide directive that effective immediately and due to the
planned introduction of biometrics in 2007, the British Embassy will not be
issuing 10 year visas until further notice. Applicants are therefore advised
that henceforth, and until further notice, the maximum visa duration to be
issued will be 5 years. In the future, and once the biometric system is fully
in place, it will be possible for applicants to apply for a visa valid for 10 years.

Business Visas
Please provide photocopies of all the documents you will be submitting:
     1. A completed visa application form: i.e. Non-Settlement Form (VAF1 2006)
     2. One recent coloured and unframed passport sized photos taken
         with a light background approximately 45mm X 35mm in size and
         glued not stapled onto the designated space for the picture in
         the application form.
     3. Visa fee in pesos. Payable across the Bank counter or through
         ATM Card, made payable to the British Embassy Manila.
     4. Your employers Company registration (DTI SEC or Mayors permit)
     5. Current passport valid for at least 6 months and any old passports.
     6. Evidence that the company can support your trip. We would
         recommend you supply up-to-date detailed bank statements and
         other savings covering a period of 6 months prior to the date of application.
     7. Invitation letter from the United Kingdom Company and/or other correspondence.
     8. Evidence of business contract or previous sales with the UK
         Company e.g. receipts contracts etc if applicable.
     9. A letter from your company detailing the reasons for your visit and
         expected duration of stay.
     10. A signed Visa Application Checklist is available on our website.

Student Visa
Please provide photocopies of all the documents you will be submitting:
      1. A completed visa application form: Non-Settlement Form (VAF1 2006)
      2. One recent coloured and unframed passport sized photos taken
          with a light background approximately 45mm X 35mm in size and
          glued not stapled onto the designated space for the picture in
          the application form.
      3. Visa fee in pesos. Payable across the Bank counter or through
          ATM Card, made payable to the British Embassy Manila.
      4. Current passport valid for at least 6 months and any old passports.
      5. Any secondary university or other qualifications or certificates you presently hold.
      6. A letter of acceptance from the college or university showing:
            a. Cost of course and evidence of any deposit/fee made.
            b. Accommodation available.
            c. How many hours study per week.
            d. Dates and duration of course.
      7. Evidence of funds available for the course. We would recommend
          you supply up-to-date detailed bank statements and other savings
          covering a period of 6 months prior to the date of application.
      8. If your sponsor is in the UK a copy of his passport including the
          personal details page and all the stamped pages. If your UK sponsor
          is funding your accommodation course fees and maintaining you
          in the UK we also require evidence of their income and finances
          such as pay slips and bank savings accounts held.
      9. If you have studied English before please provide evidence in the form of certificates.
      10. A completed Student Visa Questionnaire Form.
      11. If you are a student visa dependants.
             a. Evidence that your sponsor can support you financially. We
                 would recommend you supply your sponsor’s up-to-date
                 detailed bank statements and other savings. You may also
                 submit evidence of bank funds held in the Philippines and
                 remittance slips if applicable.
             b. If you are joining your spouse we require your marriage contract
                 on National Statistics Office (NSO) security paper.
             c. If you are a child under 18 we require your birth certificate on NSO security paper.
             d. A full copy of your sponsors passport including the personal
                 details page blank pages all stamped pages and pages with
                 UK visas or Home Office extensions ofstay.
             e. Evidence that your sponsor has adequate accommodation. If
                 they live in a rented property written evidence is required
                 from the UK landlord or estate agent. This should detail how
                 many people are presently renting the property approval for
                 you to live there the number of bedrooms in the property and
                 how many rooms are available for the exclusive use of you and
                 your sponsor. If your sponsor owns a property in the UK then
                 copies of mortgage documents are required.
     12. If you are applying as an unmarried or same sex dependant of a
           student visa holder:
           a. Evidence of any previous cohabitation. We would suggest the
               following as examples: joint commitments (such as joint bank
               accounts investments rent agreements, mortgage etc) or
           b. If there are children of the relationship a record of their birth entry or
           c. correspondence which links you and your sponsor to the same address; or
           d. any official records of you sharing the same address (e.g. Doctors records etc);or
           e. Any other evidence that adequately demonstrates your commitment to each other.
     13. If you are applying at the same time as your sponsor is applying for their student visa.
           a. A full copy of your sponsor’s passport.
           b. Evidence of accommodation in the UK.
           c. However you should provide details of any accommodation arranged in the UK.
     14. A signed Visa Application Checklist is available on our website. Seaman
           Please provide photocopies of all the documents you will be submitting:
           1. Your current and old Seaman’s Book
           2. Original and photocopy of employment contract.
           3. Letter of guarantee from Agent indicating PORT OF ENTRY and
               NEXT PORT OF CALL which must be outside British waters.
           4. Visa fee in pesos. Payable across the Bank counter or through
               ATM Card, made payable to the British Embassy Manila.
           5. If you are to undergo training at the Steiner organization before
               joining one of their ships or you are a senior managerial level
               Maritime Officer (e.g. Captain Chief Engineer Chief Officer or 1st
               Assistant Engineer) going to the UK for training or briefing prior to
               joining your ship in a third country. You will also need to provide
               the following:
               a. Letter of guarantee from Steiner detailing the training to be
                   undertaken and when and where you are to join your ship.
               b. You must already hold a visa for the country in which you are
                   joining your ship.
           6. A signed Visa Application Checklist is available on our website.

Photo Specifications
Please provide a recent photograph (not more than 6 months old) of
yourself. The photographs should be in colour and:
     1. Taken against a light background so that features are
         distinguishable and contrast against the background (Please avoid white clothing if possible);
     2. Clear and of good quality, and not framed or backed;
     3. Printed on normal photographic paper;
     4. Unmounted - 45 mm x 35 mm in size;
     5. Full face and without sunglasses, hat or other head covering unless
         the applicant wears such items because of cultural or religious reasons.
NOTE : PHOTOGRAPHS THAT DO NOT CONFORM TO THESE
STANDARDS WILL BE REJECTED AND MAY CAUSE A DELAY IN
PROCESSING THE APPLICATION
